Meridium is welcoming clients to Roanoke this week, showing off its new home. The global software company recently bought a 100-year old warehouse and converted it to office space. The four-story structure was built in 1910 as a warehouse for the Nelson Hardware Company. One century later it has gone from hardware to software. Breakell contractors took pains to retain the hardwood and brick construction while opening windows on the sights of the Star City that define its small-town character.
While Meridium software is licensed for use in 900 locations in 80 different countries and maintains overseas offices, CEO Bonz Hart finds his Roanoke headquarters appeals to people looking for an easy place to live. Meridium founder Bonz Hart plays off the city's small-town feel to help recruit young engineers who might otherwise want to work in the Silicon Valley.
The company designs and installs software that helps keep large companies- -paper mills, oil refineries, power companies- -running smoothly. Meridium's goal is to predict and prevent failures in corporate production assets. Meridium maintains offices in Houston, India, Dubai, Australia and the Island nation of Malta in the Mediterranean, but the home office is in Roanoke.
