Miss Roanoke Valley crowned as new Miss Virginia

ROANOKE, Va.

From Miss Roanoke Valley to now Miss Virginia 2012.

On Sunday morning, the newly crowned Miss Virginia, Rosemary Willis, sat down with WDBJ7 for her first interview.

Rosemary is a rising senior at William and Mary studying government.

Her platform is "Get Moving for a Healthy Tomorrow," and she hopes to get Virginia moving in a healthy direction.

"I really just hope to being our state to a different course, a new course to inspire this generation to become healthier and to empower them to make healthy choices," Willis said.

She will spend the next year traveling the Commonwealth and promoting  her platform.

She'll also be be Virginia's representative at the Miss America Pageant this January.

Storm damage and power outages didn't stop the crowning of a new Miss Virginia.

The annual pageant went on as planned tonight at the Roanoke Civic Center.

All the week's hard work, paid off for one lucky lady, and she didn't have to go far for her crown.
