Some local filmmakers are planning to shoot their next movie in Bedford, but they need your help with the project.

Difference Engine Films is producing a movie called "Span."  It's a science fiction tale about the search for new life after earth is destroyed.

Filming will begin in about a year, but the producers need money now to start building sets.  They're hoping to raise $90,000 this month through "crowdfunding."  That's where you, the audience, chip in to help make the movie happen.

"When you're dealing with a science fiction film, you really can't use any found objects like a cafe, or a grocery store, or a street.  You basically have to design and build everything from the ground up," said Bo Mosley, visual effects supervisor and producer for "Span."

"What the crowdfunding will do is give us the resources to make the sets happen," said Mosley.

Donations to the film can be made online through a website called "Kickstarter."  Click here to visit the crowdfunding site.
