New Cave Spring Middle School will be ready for classes next week

The new Cave Spring Middle School is ready for classes next week.

The science classroom has a view overlooking the entire football field.

The new school will hold up to 900 students and has three floors.

There is also a memory wall; old pictures and news articles about the history of the school dating back to the 50's.

This $26 million project called for most of the original school to be demolished but special places such as the gym were saved and renovated.

"Part of the history because that's where the kids in the 50's and 60's actually played games in here, basketball had ceremonies in the auditorium so this was keeping part of the original history," Roanoke County Superintendent Lorraine Lange said.

A geothermal well system is in place and will save on utilities.
