There's a good chance your credit report includes bad information.
The Federal Trade Commission found one in five consumers had an error on at least one of their credit reports, but the results of that study comes as no surprise to local credit counselors.
Brendan Vigorito is Director of Education and Community Relations for Money Management International. He says that figure is nothing new, but it reinforces the need to monitor your credit reports and credit scores.
"No one's going to watch over my credit report to make sure it's correct and accurate," Vigorito told us in an interview. "That's my repsonsibility as a consumer. We recommend everyone get their credit report, read it, understand it," he said.
