I know there is severe weather. Your station keeps breaking away to the weather. Since the weather is severe, why attempt to show any regular programs. Currently, we can't watch weather or programs. With weather this severe, why not just show the weather?
Robin, please don't let the ignorance of some viewers get to you. It seems that "Survivor" is more important to some but not to those of us that have a brain and compassion for others. I think it is more important for you to break in for a moment to tell people how bad the thunderstorms are and where they are and going so that they can take shelter and no be killed! But appearently, some people are ignorant to the fact that time is of the essence in some cases. I just want to thank you and tell you that you ARE appreciated and respected for the GREAT job you do. Thank you so very much!
I think you do a public service with the weather warnings etc. What has happened that people are more concerned with a tv show than with protecting lives?? If they were in a tornado warning area they would appreciate your coverage. I know I would. You go!!! Good for WDBJ!
I have been amused by the "rah rah" coverage of Gov. McDonnel's plan to help save gas by everyone doing things to conserve "1 day every 2 wks". Talk about FAR TOO LITTLE! Unrealistic--especially in this area which is so rural. it would make much more sense to drop the speed limit again. This would save much more gas and is something that EVERYONE would be able to do!
When reporting stories on medical situations such as vaccinations, flu shots etc., please discontinue showing the needle piercing the skin of the person receiving the shot. Some viewers actually get ill when you show this and it is totally not necessary.
I believe that we are just not communicating the importance of agriculture any more. I think that you should have a brief segment on agriculture weekly. Even though I know most people wouldn't agree with me and would argue, we could always take a small portion of time away from the sports segment for more on agriculture. It is too obvious that we could survive without sports, but we definitely could no without agriculture.
I thought that Gov. McDonnell's remark yesterday about a politician just getting in the way was very rude and abrasive. Had he shown up last week as he should, he would not be thought of as a politician but a Governor who was concerned about the people who had lost so much. He also appeared like he would have rather been anywhere else yesterday. Huge disappointment.
There does seem to be quite a bit of difference in the punishment of male/female teachers for sex with students. Unless it is forcible sex I believe that the same penalties should apply to each. It seems as if our judicial system is rewarding female teachers for giving their male student(s) a reward whereas the male teacher is apparently considered to have forced themselves on their female student(s). In any event I think the system needs to treat both equally!!
I was disappointed that you did not air your coverage on the Special Olympics that was held at William Fleming High School on Wednesday at the 11:00 airing of the news. I was busy during your earlier broadcasts and had heard there was a little bit of coverage. When I turned on the news at 11, I saw nothing. So then I went to the website to look and also saw nothing. I am a teacher who had students in the events and one was shown but I was unable to show him at school so he will never see this. As much coverage that you give other athletes in the area, I would think you would at least upload the video to your website.
I just looked at the tornado map and I was on I81 on Friday night and had pulled over to the side of the road at the Draper overpass and experienced the EF1 tornado. What a scary experience I was not sure what was happening at the time and it all happened so quickly. I am thankful that I was not hurt and my car was not tossed in the wind, thank God that it was only an EF1 and not the EF2. Amazing that no one was killed or seriously injured. Thank you for tracking the tornado on the map I had wondered how close I was I could not see it just experienced it saw the tress flying around me the black wind howling and then more debris flying at me from the other side. Thanks again the information was helpful for me.
