November was a very dry month. Roanoke, Lynchburg, Danville and Blacksburg all fell well below average when it came to rainfall in November. In fact, some areas were 2 to 3 inches below average.
Normal rainfall for November is aroun 3.25 inches.
You might have noticed Roanoke and Lynchburg had the exact same amount of rain. This isn't a misprint. In fact, according to Meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, it has happened 8 times in the history of record keeping for Roanoke and Lynchburg to have the same amount.
The last time it occured was exactly 20 years ago. And it's only the 2nd time it has happened during the month of November.
