One dead in Lee County train derailment

Virginia State Police are investigating a death that resulted from a train derailment.

It happened at 11:45 p.m. Sunday night in Lee County, which is in far southwest Virginia.

Troopers say a train derailed and overturned on a minivan parked next to the tracks.

The minivan was used to shuttle railroad workers.

The driver, Jamie Collins, died early Monday morning.

The passenger, Jason Williams, was flown to a hospital with serious injuries.
