The Virginia Department of Transportation will close lanes on Interstate 81 on Saturday and Sunday for bridge maintenance.

The work will be on I-81 North and South between mile markers 95 and 98. Crews will be paving and performing bridge maintenance.

The work will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

One lane of Interstate 81 North in Pulaski County is closed as crews work to patch a pothole.

The northbound left lane near mile marker 95 is closed. There is a large pothole on a bridge that carries the I-81 over Petes Creek.

The lane closure may extend into the evening hours, the Virginia Department of Transportation says. Drivers are asked to use caution and expect delays.
