Roanoke driver involved in fatal wreck charged with DUI

The driver of a single vehicle wreck on Old Mountain Road in Roanoke has been charged with DUI.

Police charged 34-year-old Charles Daniel King of Roanoke with DUI.  On Thursday, July 28, police say King ran off the road, struck a guardrail and overturned. 

King's passenger, 48-year-old Scott Bradley Davis of Roanoke died while being transported to the hospital.

Roanoke Police Department Investigates Fatal Wreck

Roanoke, VA-The Roanoke Police Department is investigating the cause of a fatal wreck that occurred on July 28, 2011.  Officers responded at 3:22 p.m. to the 4700 block of Old Mountain Road.  Upon arrival they located a single vehicle in which the driver ran off the road, struck a guardrail, and overturned.  The passenger died while being transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  He has been identified as Scott Bradley Davis, age 48 of Roanoke.  The driver was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  He has been identified as Charles Daniel King, age 34 of Roanoke.  Mr. King has been charged with DUI.

One person is dead after a wreck in Roanoke.

It happened around 3:20 p.m. in the 4700 block of Old Mountain Road.  Police say the driver ran off the road, struck a guardrail and overturned.  

Authorities say the passenger died while being transported to the hospital.  The driver was taken to the hospital.  

No charges have been filed at this time.  The 4700 block of Old Mountain Road is closed at this time while the wreck is investigated.
