Some parents and kids in Roanoke put aside their struggles to celebrate Christmas on Wednesday.

Children at the Rescue Mission in Roanoke performed in a Christmas Pageant. The play includes the traditional nativity scene.

25 children staying at the Rescue Mission took part in the event.

The organization says it's a great way for families to spend quality time together during the holidays.

Kyle Edgell, a development assiatant at the Rescue Mission, says, "We do the Christmas pageant because it's a wonderful way for kids to be kids and it's a wonderful way for the parents to applaud."

The play called "C'mon Ring Those Bells" was written by the Mission's Director of Administration.
