Pulaski County officals and the American Red Cross will be handing out bottled water for folks needing it at three locations:
Water will be handed out at the central gym in Pulaski, the Hiwassee Fire Department, and the bus circle at Pulaski High School.
You can pick up a case of water there until 9:00 p.m. tonight and from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the same locations.
Pulaski County and the Town of Pulaski water departments are experiencing a lack of water due to the extended power outage impacting both water plants. Public water customers and restaurants in the following areas should use boiled or bottled water for cooking and drinking:
Town of Pulaski
and county PSA water customers in areas south of Interstate 81 to the Wythe County line
Once power is restored to the water plants later today, citizens should still boil water or used bottled water for approx. 72 hours to allow for appropriate testing of water quality. Additional notifications will be forthcoming as water is deemed safe for consumption. Attached is generic language being used for bottled water advisory and for restaurants.
The emergency shelter at Pulaski Elementary School will close Saturday at Noon as nobody utilized it last night. We will continue to monitor need requests to help determine if reopening it is necessary.
