A rock band from Pulaski is hoping a national contest will give them the break they need.
They're called Aside Oceans, and each band member is hoping you'll be singing along to their music on the radio some day.  "I've never been the type to do American Idol or things like that.  So, I'd rather stick it out with these guys and rough it for a little bit and see what happens," said Bradley Steele, the lead vocalist and guitarist.

So, these guys have been busy working and rockin' out on the road.
"We've slept on people's floors and we've played for nothing and we've traveled 13 hours and gotten paid pennies. That's just what that's about," Steele explained.

It certainly hasn't been an easy life, but the band recently entered a contest called Gimme the Gig.It's sponsored by Ford and Capital records.  "You work for so long and this is what you work for; that one break," Drummer Steve Brooks said in a hopeful tone.

They may have just found it.  The band traveled across the country and competed against about two thousand other acts for the chance at a record deal.  After online voting, they're ranked 7th.  Judges will pick three acts for the record deal with producer Don Was.  "Having that kind of name on one of your songs or your record means a lot to anyone in the industry whether it's a record label,  a manager, a booking agency.  It's like wow those guys recorded with him.  He's done the rolling stones," Brooks explained.

They're hoping their sacrifices will pay off.  "Hard work pays off. That's the difference between a lot of bands and us.  There's a lot of bands that love it just like we do but they don't know how to work as hard," said Billy Steele, guitarist.  It's all for a love of the music that they're hoping you love too.
