They might run into burning buildings, but Salem's firefighters aren't afraid to be "pretty in pink."
Monday, the Fire Department unveiled its pink shirts to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Throughout the month of October, crews will wear the shirts.
Salem is just one of many departments throughout the country who is showing its support.
"By wearing pink, we want to get the word out to everybody. You don't normally see guys wear pink shirts, and, the fact remains, that real men do wear pink, especially when it goes for such a cause as this," says Salem Fire & EMS Chief Pat Counts.
This is the first year Salem crews have worn pink in honor of breast cancer awareness.
