A local organization is rebuilding Roanoke neighborhoods that have seen their share of challenges. From yard work to major repairs on the inside, Rebuilding Together Roanoke spokespeople say by giving homes much needed makeovers, the community will thrive and people who are in need of a home will have that dream come true.

While the transformation is a positive thing, one of the homes has a bit of a dark past. It was owned by Bill White, who is a self-described Neo-Nazi. Still, the home and the neighborhood both have bright futures.

Organizers are pleased the home's connection to White will fade from memory. The property will eventually be a home for someone who has had to rely on social service agencies. The home was donated to Rebuilding Together Roanoke a partner organization affiliated with the Roanoke Regional Housing Network.

We spoke with Executive Director Edward Murray of Rebuilding Together Roanoke. “This property was donated to us by Wells Fargo. It’s a real estate owned property; it was foreclosed on and we're going to put it back into use within the community,” he said.
