We typically don't think twice about having running water in our homes, but for one hometown neighborhood, it's a daily concern.

That's because the main water line running down Lanier Road in Martinsville breaks more often than expected.

Neighbors say in the last five years the pipe has broke nearly 30 times.

"It got so bad we had to put in a filtration system, so the mud doesn't get into the faucets, and the toilets fixtures and so for, and it has saved the plumbing," said Raymond Dietz, a 46 year resident of the street.

They then have to wait at least half a day before the water is drinkable again.

The city plans to begin installing a 2,000 section of pipe in March then pave the entire road.

The entire project is estimated to cost more than $100,000.
