Roanoke County school board members made a decision Wednesday evening to hold off on spending more than a million dollars that would've built three sports field houses at its high schools.
They're looking at taking some of that money possibly to pay for school security upgrades.
Nearly 60 thousand dollars will cover the cost of buzzers that were recently installed on some campuses.
The board is also working with an architect firm to review different building layouts to perhaps in the future make sure all visitors have to go through the front office before they can enter the school.
Another idea the district is considering is placing school resource officers inside elementary schools.
