ROANOKE, Va.—
A person delivering newspapers helped save a Roanoke homeowner from a fire Thursday morning.
According to the Roanoke Fire Department, a paperboy woke up a person inside the home after seeing smoke from the home on Nottingham Road.
There were no working smoke detectors in the home.
The fire started in the family room, and was contained to that room. However, there was smoke damage throughout the home.
The fire caused about $150,000 in damage.
