We all hate waiting.
But for a Roanoke man it's very frustrating. He hopes to find out Thursday if he has meningitis.
His test results have gone back and forth. As you can imagine he's worried especially since two people have died in our area.
Richard Henegar, Sr. is back at his desk at Quality Auto Paint and Body in Roanoke.
" I come to work all week," says Henegar, "I've been running slow motion but I feel okay."
Henegar has a headache. But you could say his ordeal the last two weeks has also been a headache.
In September he received a steroid injection at Insight Imaging in Roanoke. He was scheduled for a second round but that was canceled.
"I got a call on that Wednesday," says Henegar, "They said you have, you were in that bad batch with the steroid injections from Insight."
Henegar had symptoms of meningitis: a headache and stiff neck. So he went to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
The first spinal tap was negative. But a lab analysis of the culture came back positive.
"The lab called me and my family doctor called me twice said your results come back positive you need to get to the hospital now," says Henegar.
He was admitted to the hospital. But doctors couldn't find his paperwork so they tested him again.
The second spinal tap was negative so doctors released him.
Henegar is now waiting for the results of a second lab analysis. He was told by a doctor that the first analysis was a false positive.
"What's 'false positive'?" says Henegar, "That's what I wanna know."
Henegar's mother is very worried about her son.
"We're just hoping and praying that he's gonna get better and get over it," says Nancy Henegar.
Henegar worries what will happen down the road.
"Who says in three more months I might have to go have this done again," says Richard Henegar, Sr.
For now he's trying not to think about it. As Henegar told us he has no control over the situation.
On Thursday Henegar has an appointment with his family doctor. He hopes to get the results from that second lab analysis.
