Roanoke man sentenced in murder of security guard

A judge has sentenced a Roanoke man to 43 years in prison for the fatal shooting of security guard.

The Roanoke Times reports that Gene Anthony Brown was sentenced Wednesday in Roanoke Circuit Court. He was convicted of first-degree murder and weapons charges in late November.

Prosecutors say Brown fatally shot 46-year-old Steve Orange because of a feud between the two men.

Orange's body was found in his security vehicle at the Afton Garden Apartments on July 31, 2011. He had been shot six times with a .380-caliber handgun.
