The Roanoke Police Department has released surveillance pictures from a Christmas Eve robbery of an 84-year-old man outside of a convenience store.

Investigators say the suspect pulled out a gun and pushed the man to the ground while stealing his wallet.

Roanoke police are investigating a Christmas Eve robbery. This happened at the A&M Mart on Hollins Road. 

Officers say an elderly man was coming out of the store, when a man flashed a gun at him and demanded cash.

The victim was pushed to the ground during a struggle with the robber. The robber got away with the man's wallet. The victim suffered minor injuries.

The Roanoke Police Department is investigating a robbery from person that occurred on December 24, 2012.  Officers responded at 9:44 a.m. to the 2500 block of Hollins Road.  Upon arrival they located the victim, an 84 year old male of Moneta, lying on the ground in the parking lot of the A&M Mart.  The victim stated that he was outside of the business when he was approached by the suspect who brandished a firearm and demanded his wallet.  The suspect pushed the victim on the ground during a struggle for his wallet.  The suspect then obtained an undisclosed amount of money and fled when a store employee came out of the store to assist the victim.  The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries by Roanoke Fire/EMS.  No arrests have been made.  The suspect is described as a black male in his
twenties wearing a dark hooded jacket, an orange shirt, black stocking cap and dark pants.  He was described as clean shaven and wore prescription glasses.  Anyone with information regarding this or other crimes should call the Roanoke Police Department at (540) 853-5959 or Crime Line at (540) 344-8500.  Crime Line may offer a monetary reward for any information leading to an arrest in a crime.
