The Roanoke Valley SPCA is hosting its first annual 5k.
Every year, the SPCA takes in more than 2000 lost and abandoned animals, but the organizations doesn't get any state or federal funding.
To bridge the gap, its hosting The "Tail Chaser 5k."
"Every dime that we bring in goes directly into helping those animals and we want to make sure those services & programs that we have do continue," says Kathy Perdue of the SPCA.
The "Tail Chaser 5k" is billed as event running for the lives of animals.
It has two components: a run and a one-mile walk for man and his four-legged friends.
It's all happening on Saturday, March 30th at Wasena Park in Roanoke.
