ROANOKE, Va.—
Roanoke was the epicenter of every chocolate lover's dream Sunday.The southwest Virginia chapter of the American Culinary Federation held its first Chocolate Festival at the Hotel Roanoke.
People sampled chocolate delicacies from local vendors and watched demonstrations by chocolate chefs.
Valerie Sell visited from Smith Mountain Lake. "At the moment, I'm on sugar overload," she told us, "but everything has been absolutely delightful."
For the organizers, the event was a sweet success. Money raised at the festival will benefit American Culinary Federation outreach programs in southwest Virginia, including programs in the public schools, scholarships and professional development.
James Zeisler is President of the southwest Virginia chapter. "People just love chocolate. You say chocolate and people are there," he told us. The group plans to make it an annual event.
