SALEM, Va.—
Some local kids are on their way to what they call the "Superbowl of Cheerleading."Salem-based competition cheerleading team "Iconix Allstars" has won a bid to 2013 Worlds competition. They're the first group from southwest Virginia to ever make it.
Iconix will be competiting against about 30 teams from the U.S. and as around the world in their division.
"There are going to be teams from all over the world really. We compete against teams from states such as Georgia, to North Carolina, you know everywhere in between," said coach Bobby Lozano.
The team pulls athletes from Roanoke, Montgomery, Botetourt and Franklin Counties.
The Worlds Competition takes place at Walt Disney World in Florida this spring.
