The city says all affected residents will be delivered a notice.

There is no need to boil their water unless they receive a notice.

Here is the news release from the city:

Lynchburg’s Department of Water Resources has issued a Boil Water Notice for approximately 200 homes in areas of the City that have been affected by water main breaks this morning, February 14.  City employees will be hand delivering the notices to the affected properties.  Residents are reminded that there is no need to boil their water unless they receive a notice.

The Department of Water Resources has been able to isolate each individual break and, therefore, has been able to limit the number of properties who have to boil water.  As a precaution, once the break is repaired, crews will flush the lines to prevent the spread of any possible contamination.

Residents in the affected areas may experience discolored water.  In order to help clear the water, run the cold water only for at least three minutes.

The City appreciates your patience and understanding and apologizes for the inconvenience.
