Skunk tests positive for rabies in Blacksburg

The Virginia Department of Health has confirmed two cases of rabid animals.

The department says a skunk killed last week at a dog park in Blacksburg has tested positive for rabies. Two dogs attacked the skunk, and one of the dog's owners reported the incident to Montgomery County animal and health authorities.

In southern Patrick County, a horse also tested positive for rabies near state Route 8 and the North Carolina state line.
