By mid-morning, an icy crust lined the curb in Covington. Crews were busy clearing city streets, and a steady snow continued to fall.
Darius Peterson took it slow on his way to work early Wednesday, but wasn't disappointed to see the snow. "It's a little rough getting to work," Peterson told us. "It's slippery on the hills and everything, but I mean it's Christmas."
As we headed toward The Homestead on US 220, we were happy to have the Virginia Department of Transportation taking the lead, but the difficult conditions didn't last long.
And everyone we met, including local residents and Homestead guests were enjoying the change of weather.
Dick Rankin lives in Statesville, North Carolina. "Love it," he said. "I mean any time you can get a change in weather like this, and for it to be this time of year is fantastic."
Debra Hunt lives nearby. "We're ready for the snow," she said. "We're so excited when it comes down. It's the best thing you could ever imagine."
