South Boston man charged in stabbing
A South Boston man has been charged in a stabbing that happened Monday night.

Edgar Saldana, 32, has been charged with malicious wounding.

He's being held without bond.

Police say Saldana got into a fight around 9:45 p.m. Monday night on the 700 block of Berry Hill Road in South Boston.

The victim suffered several stab wounds.

On January 2, 2012 at approximately 9:45 P.M., South Boston Police Department officers responded to the 700 block of Berry Hill Road in reference to a fight in progress. According to Officer C.M. Mann police report; they had received information that one of the suspects involved in the fight had a knife. Officer Mann’s police report further stated that the victim was located walking down Berry Hill Road near the intersection of Lomax Ave. The victim had several stab wounds and was transported to the hospital by Halifax County Rescue Squad. The suspect was identified as Edgar M. Saldana age 32, with a listed address of South Boston.
According to Captain B. K. Lovelace; Saldana was charged with Malicious Wounding and held without bond at the regional jail.  Captain Lovelace further stated that Halifax County Sheriff Office assisted the police department in investigating the case.
