Five people face charges after Virginia Tech police arrested them Friday during a protest at Stadium Woods.

The protestors were trying to save an area known as Stadium Woods

One of those arrested was a student.

The organizer of the group "Save Stadium Woods", Rebekah Paulson, says she along with four others were charged with disorderly conduct.

They were later released.

The battle over what's become known as "Stadium Woods" at Virginia Tech, took an another twist earlier Friday.

About half a dozen folks wrapped plastic tape around dozens of trees in that "Stadium Woods" area near Lane Stadium around 10 oclock.
They were trying to stop the Virginia Tech football players from parking their cars in between the trees. The group says the cars damage the root system of those old trees.
Campus police showed up and the group's leader, Rebecca Paulson,  explained what they told the football players.

"I said wouldn't you rather park in a parking lot and they said 'yeah absolutely but this is where we're told to park, we do what we're told.' So as I said in the press releases, they're pawns in this argument."

Virginia Tech decided that the football players would continue to be allowed to park their personal cars in Stadium Woods.
