Kids are back in school, but they might be bringing home more than just books and papers. They may also be bringing home colds.

Local pediatricians say they're already busy this school year.

Dr. John Moore is with Carilion Pediatric Medicine.  He says hand washing and hand sanitizers are key to preventing children from getting sick.

Also, Dr. Moore says to make sure kids get their flu vaccine.  Many doctor's offices already have the vaccine in house.

And with busy school year schedules in full swing, he says it's crucial that parents make sure their kids are getting enough sleep and good nutrition.
