As the town mourns two firefighters, two other people walked away from the crash.
Teri Valentine- the driver of the SUV, was back at her home Tuesday after being treated at the hospital Monday night.
She had no comment when contacted by News7.
Carolyn Puckett -the driver of the Mustang- walked away without a scratch..
News7 spoke with Carolyn's daughter Nikki, she says her mother is doing ok, but is traumatized by what she went through.
In fact, while she was physically untouched, she sought counseling Tuesday morning because of what she saw.
Carolyn Puckett was leaving her job at the Shoe Show - that's less than a half-mile from the crash site.
Puckett was sitting in her blue Mustang at the light when crash happened.
The fire truck rolled several times heading straight for her. It then landed upside down on her driver's side door throwing one of the victims onto her windshield.
The news was devastating to Puckett's daughter, Nikki Glass.
"It was rough. Very rough. She had literally just left here, and I got a phone call and I just ran straight down there to be by her side and just to be with her," recounts Glass.
Both Nikki and her mom have worked in Rocky Mount for seven-years and say route 40, where the accident occurred, is a dangerous place. They've seen several near-misses.
As of Tuesday night, the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
The state police say- the SUV driven by Valentine- did have a green light, but the fire engine did have its emergency equipment activated.
