New poll keeps Robert Hurt on top

One of the hot races, getting national attention, is in Virginia's 5th Congressional District.

And, a new poll isn't holding out much hope for the incumbent.

The poll from Roanoke College shows Republican Robert Hurt beating Incumbent Democratic Tom Perrriello.

Hurt is up 6-points in the poll from the Institute for Policy and Opinion Research.

"I think it's an important piece of information in a district that people across the country have seen as a pretty important district, one that everyone is predicting is at least leaning Republican, if not likely Republican. But still, one that is seen as an important pick up for Republicans nationwide and one that is maybe a harbinger of what may happen in other districts across the country on election day," explains the director of Roanoke College's Institute for Policy & Opinion Research, Harry Wilson.

The poll was conducted for 10-days earlier this month.

Nearly 600-voters from the 5th district were interviewed by phone and asked multiple questions about the race and issues.
