A brand new program is off and pedaling at Roanoke College; it's called RCycles.
The college bought five bikes over the summer and they're free for anyone on campus to check out just like a library book.
Then students and staff get to keep the bike for a week and ride anywhere they want.
They got the idea from a couple other schools and it looks like similar plans in Europe, but not only is it supposed to be a convenience, it's also to make the campus more green.
"The first time I rode it I was wearing my khakis and polo," says senior Phillip Sheridan. "And the first people that saw me were like hey you look European and I'm like, 'Yeah.'"
"Our school motto is classics for tomorrow," says senior Alexander Roy. "And going green is definitely a classical thing to do that progresses us toward tomorrow."
The college hopes to add more bikes in the future. The total cost this time around was around thirty five hundred dollars.
