The nice weather motivated some to work on the house this weekend.
But, for some volunteers around Roanoke, it wasn't even their house!
The group, "Rebuilding Together," had people at multiple sites on Saturday.
One group was at a home taking off the old shingles and giving it a whole new roof.
While another set of volunteers worked at the home of a disabled family, giving the house new windows.
The family says its perfect since winter is right around the corner.
"It helps a lot with these guys coming here, especially when you're getting help from the public 'cause times are hard," says homeowner Michael Staples.
Habitat for Humanity had Virginia Western and Virginia Tech students working at its site on Campbell Avenue.
The house initially took shape at Roanoke College, part of the freshman orientation exercise called, "R House."
But, it has come a long way.
The family is expected to move in in February.
