UPDATE: "Suspicious device" found in Danville was part of training exercise

A suspicious device found in Danville was not an explosive.

An investigation discovered that a delivery truck from North Carolina dropped off a trailer to the Goodyear plant in Danville on Thursday.

The trailer had been part of an exercise by the North Carolina State Ports Authority, and the suspicious device was an inactive bomb-like training device.

It was inadvertently left on the trailer.

A Goodyear employee noticed the device around 10:15 a.m. Friday morning and called police.

Investigators in Danville are treating a suspicious device found on the property of a Danville store as a potential explosive device.

The incident is happening now at a Goodyear store in Danville.

Around 10:12 a.m. Friday morning, Goodyear security called police saying they found a suspicious device on property.

The Danville Police Department and Danville Fire Department are on scene. Crews from the Danville Life Saving Crew are on standby.

The suspicious device is being treated as a potential explosive.
