Temp agencies are seeing tremendous growth right now.

Last month the U.S. added 80-thousand jobs. A third of those jobs were temporary.

Job placements are up 20% this year at Express Employment Professionals in Roanoke County.

Its sign outside advertises the number of positions. The hot jobs are welders, nurses, accountants and IT.

The owner says employers want to hire and a temp agency allows them to do so with no risk.

"That employee is on our payroll," says Garry Norris, "They're not on the client's payroll. That client has no risk, no liability. They're paying no federal taxes, no state taxes, no unemployment taxes, no workers compensation."

Garry Norris says he pays an average of 280 employees every week.

Norris says wages depend on what job you're offered. For example, welders are in high demand so their pay is anywhere from 16 to 22 dollars an hour.
