Last week, the Amazing Race left us with a cliff hanger. Are Abba and James done? Can Abbie + Ryan and Brent +Josh catch up to the rest of the pack?
James and Abba are told to find their missing passports. The guys rush to make phone calls to police to track their taxi cab. They contacted the U.S. embassy to see if there is anything they can do.
Back at the swimming pool, Josh and Brent are having a bad day. The pool is closing. They have one more chance to do the synchronize routine.
They FAIL! The Russian judge is not impressed just like McKayla Maroney. The goat farmers are penalized by 4 hours. Both teams agreed to work together to finish this task. This is music to Abbie and Ryan’s ears because they know that they will not get eliminated in this leg.
The pairs head over to the roadblock. Granted, they do not know of the rocker’s situation. They have no idea that there is a glimmer of hope that both teams can survive.
The teams are at the tree of love and Josh figured out this roadblock quick. He could easily leave the other team behind and hope it takes them 4 hours+ to figure it out (it most likely would have taken a ‘fabio’ like 40 minutes MAX).
Both teams hit the mat. Phil responded with ‘tough day?’ He informs the teams that there is a team out there struggling on the course. Both teams are safe. The four hour delay on Brent and Josh will be assessed at the beginning of the next leg.
The rockers cannot find their passports. Phil tells them that this is a non-elimination leg. They are still in the race. However, this is a race around the world. This means they cannot leave the country because they cannot produce their passport. When they hit a traveling roadblock then they will be done with the race. Since they are the last team to arrive, they are penalized with a speed bump for the next leg.
Beginning of the next leg
Trey and Lexi is the first team to depart from the Pit Stop. They proceed to the Agricultural Academy in Russia. Once there, they will find a marked path that will lead them to the right auditorium with the next clue.
The Texan’s first cabbie took them to a desolate area of Moscow. People might say it’s the ghetto because of the clutter of broken bottles on the ground.
Their second cabbie took them to another place that is incorrect. All this driver wants to do is smoke his cigarettes.
The Texans blew their lead so bad that the Chippendale’s are in first. This is literally a first for them. They are amazed at their new lead that they feel uncomfortable.
Roadblock!
Who is in the zone?
One person will be shown Russia’s 9 different time zones and one local time. They must calculate the time of day in 5 Russian cities.
Its 2:15 in Moscow!
And they have to use math and know about the geography of Russia. They give you the time zones of the area (+7, +3, +4) and then flash cities in Russia. It’s a nightmare of the education system.
The Texans and Chippendale’s help each other out. They both chose their smartest teammate, the blondes (Lexi and Jaymes) They took over 11 tests! Proving dumb blondes are… dumb! HA!
But they worked together and figured out a strategy to get through this challenge before the Sri Lankas caught up.
Detour
Movers or Shakers
In Movers, teams are required to learn a Russian soldier dance.
In shakers, teams indentify 7 historic Russian leaders.
Both teams choose to Dance. They leave the building and James and Jaymes find a taxi really fast. The Texans did not have the same luck. The guys stop their taxi to flag down another taxi for Trey and Lexi. They are true gentlemen at heart.
James sprained his ankle in Shanghai. This dance will be grueling for him. It incorporates a lot of leg work, squats, and coffee grinders. The two teams prevailed and are off to the Pit Stop. James and Jaymes secure their first first-place finish on this leg of the race. They won a trip to Costa Rica.
Natalie and Nadiya are at the Roadblock. They look at each other and go –“hell no!” They use the express pass to advance to the detour. This was their last leg to use their pass.
Abbie and Ryan are at the Roadblock and Ryan thinks he has this. Oh, he is cocky. He has a great memory but he forgets that the Moscow time zone is +4 not at 0. Therefore, he needs to subtract 4 for every other time zone. After every test he fails, his ego gets smaller and his temper aggregates. He yells at the instructor telling him the tests are corrupt. Someone needs his pacifier. He finally gets it right and chose the movers detour.
Abbie leads her teammate (big baby) through the Russian dance. They are now in 4th place.
Brent chose to do the Roadblock. He is a straight-A student. His intelligent is proven because he won the task on the first try. They advance to the shakers detour.
They know the rockers are behind them so they want to have fun on this challenge. They guys schmoozed, danced, drank, and sword fought with the crowd. They finished the challenge and are in 5th.
The rockers are the last team to arrive and don’t have their passports. They are double eliminated from the race. I don’t feel sad for them.
