"Party Like It's 1776" is a patriotic family fun one day event and will celebrate the return of the Norfolk and Western #1776 Locomotive after its cosmetic restoration.

Revolutionary re-enactors and historical interpreters will be in the rail yard showing off their muskets and telling people what it was like in Virginia during the colonial days.

The Virginia Museum of Transportation will also welcome back the Chesapeake and Western #662 Locomotive.

Kids are invited to design their own flag with Betsy Ross.

The music group "NS Lawmen" will perform in the rail yard.

Patriotic music will be played and the entire museum will be decked out in red, white and blue.

Doors open at 10 a.m. and the event ends at 5.

Admission is $5 per person.

Museum members and infants two and under are free.

Norfolk Southern employees and their families will be admitted free for the day.
