Thousands run, walk and stroll in Drumstick Dash

Thousands of people ran, walked and strolled through downtown Roanoke Thursday morning.

It was the 6th Annual Drumstick Dash, a 5-kilometer run and walk to benefit the Rescue Mission of Roanoke.

Bands lined the route as well with beats that kept people and their pets moving through the cool morning.

In Lynchburg, about 1,500 people took part in the Turkey Trot.  That event benefits Presbyterian Homes and Family Services and began in 1988.
