It may take four or five hours to move the tanker that is blocking Interstate 81 South in Rockbridge County, according to Rockbridge County Emergency Management Coordinator Robert Foresman.
The tanker that overturned is carrying soap. Crews have to wait for the company to send another tanker to unload the soap from the tanker that is overturned.
The driver was not hurt.
A Virginia State Trooper that fell from the top of the tanker was not seriously hurt.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, traffic is backed up seven miles.
A Virginia State Trooper was injured after falling off the overturned tractor-trailer.
It's not clear how badly the trooper was injured.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, traffic is backed up four miles in the area.
An overturned tanker on Interstate 81 is carrying thousands of gallons of soap.
Rockbridge County Emergency Manager Robert Foresman says the tanker has not leaked. The soap will have to be transferred to another tanker before the rig can be righted and removed.
Drivers on Interstate 81 southbound in Rockbridge County should expect delays. Traffic is down to one lane in that area.
A tractor-trailer accident is blocking part of Interstate 81 South in Rockbridge County.
The accident is at mile marker 174, about a mile from the Glasgow/Natural Bridge exit.
The south left shoulder, left lane, and right lane are closed.
Traffic is backed up about a mile.
