VDOT says drivers should give themselves extra time this morning, and pay close attention to bridges and overpasses because they freeze first.

The accident on I-81S at mile marker 125 in Montgomery County has been cleared, but drivers should use caution in this area.
The north and south lanes of US-221 in Floyd County in the vicinity of Daniels Run Road and Hummingbird Lane are closed because of a car wreck.

Winter weather is taking a toll on motorists Monday night.V-DOT is reporting that the south left lane of Interstate 81 in Montgomery County is closed due to an accident. This is along mile marker 125 and could delay traffic.
Additionally, several vehicles are involved in a crash around 8:00 p.m. along mile marker 106 on I-81 South. Both the left and right lanes are closed.
Authorities in Giles County tell us they are dealing with dozens a multi-vehicle crashes along 460 between Pearisburg and Pembroke. No major injuries have been reported.
It's a mess of cars in the median and along the embankments on Interstate 581 North between the Orange Avenue and Valley View mall exits. Traffic is moving very slowly.
Many areas of Wythe County are dealing with snow and very icy conditions. Drivers should prepare themselves for delays. One area is the southbound lane of I-81 at mile marker 86. An accident there just after 8:00 p.m. has caused some major delays. The right lane is closed, and traffic is backed up about 2 miles.
