FOREST, Va.—
A grocery chain is shutting down some of its stores in our region.
Food Lion is closing stores in Bedford and Franklin counties. One is at the corner of Route 221 and Perrowville Road in Forest. The other is at Westlake Corner, near Smith Mountain Lake. Both are very close to existing Food Lion stores, which will continue to operate.
A total of eight "under-performing" stores are closing in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. They will shut down in mid-February.
