Two Roanoke women made national news Wednesday morning.
Amanda Dillard and Ashley Bush won the HLN Rise and Shine Song Contest. Their catchy jingle will be the show's new theme song.
The ladies are Radford University graduates. Dillard and Bush appeared live on the set just before 11 a.m. Wednesday when the announcement was made. Their song was chosen out of nearly 2,000 entries.
Dillard and Bush will record the song in Atlanta where HLN's headquarters are.
“Well, we just wanted it to be something that gets stuck in your head. And a lot of people are telling us that it has. So we're sorry to everybody,” Dillard told Meade on the show.
The girls said that no matter what, whistling was going to be part of their theme. It appears like that was the right decision.

New York, NY (September 21, 2011)—HLN's popular morning show, Morning Express with Robin Meade, today announced its “Rise and Shine” contest winners Amanda Dillard and Ashley Bush during the broadcast (link below). Dillard and Bush are graduates of Radford University in Southwest Virginia. They were told about the contest by Bush’s husband, Zachary and promptly came up with some chords and lyrics and entered online. The “Rise and Shine” contest asked viewers to write and perform an original “Morning Express” theme song and it debuted along with host Robin Meade’s country album “Brand New Day” on June 21, “Rise and Shine” garnered an exceptional 1,613 submissions.
