An empty industrial park in Henry County is the center of a several year debate between leaders and the federal government.
Now a county supervisor is asking the community to put pressure on our nation's leaders to start the project.
The U.S. Corps of Engineers wants to know what types of industries will move in the Commonwealth Crossing Business Centre before issuing a permit to start grading land.
The group, representing the Environmental Protection Agency, is concerned run off from future businesses may contaminate creeks in the 700 acre park.
But Henry County leaders say from an economic development aspect that won't work.
"Anybody who knows anything about economic development knows that's not how it usually works. You build it and they come, they come and then you build it. So we're kind of at a stalemate," said Tim Hall, Henry County Administrator.
Hall says half a dozen businesses decided not to move to the industrial park because it wasn't ready for construction.
