UPDATED: Tentative agreement reached with Volvo workers

The new contract proposal would last 5 years.

Volvo Trucks North America and the United Auto Workers have reached a tentative contract agreement that will cover around 1,300 UAW members at the Dublin plant.

The contract agreement would be good through 2016.

Further comment about the agreement is being withheld pending approval by UAW Local 2069.

The previous contract between Volvo and union workers at the Dublin plant was extended 24 hours.  It now expires at midnight Thursday. 

Workers were told to report as scheduled Thursday.

Volvo officials wouldn't comment on the status of the negotiations, other than saying it is an "open and professional" negotiation process.

Contract negotiations are underway for workers at the New River Valley Volvo plant.

The union worker's contract expires tonight (March 16) at midnight, according to the United Auto Workers Local 2069 website

Calls to union representatives and Volvo officials were not returned.

Contract negotiations started back in February.

Today's (March 16) latest web post from the UAW Local 2069 bargining team to workers says "For the time being, it is business as usual. Keep coming to work..."
