One of three people charged in connection with the death of a Churchville man whose body was found in the James River a year ago is going to prison for 32 years.
A Bedford County Circuit Court judge sentenced 29-year-old Christopher Michael Dudley on Tuesday. Dudley pleaded no contest to first-degree murder and concealing a corpse.
Dudley was arrested in March 2010 along with his wife, Susan Jeannie Dudley, and Andrew Clay Ottinger. All were charged in connection with the death of 42-year-old Sean Peter Placko.
The News Virginia reports that Dudley apologized to Placko's family and his own relatives before being sentenced.
Susan Dudley and Ottinger are due in court June 7. She's charged with concealing a body and Ottinger is charged with concealing a body and first-degree murder.
