The Virginia Department of Transportation will put two detours in place on Interstate 81 in Montgomery County.
The detours are part of VDOT’s construction of a five-mile truck climbing lane along I-81 South between mile markers 120 and 125 in Montgomery County.
Starting Monday, the right lane of I-81 South will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. at the Route 641 bridge. Crews are putting in new pavement on the Route 641 bridge.
On Wednesday nighttime traffic on I-81 South will be detoured at Exit 132 (Dixie Caverns), onto Route 11/460, and back onto I-81 at Exit 118 (Christiansburg) from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
A new traffic pattern will be put in place starting Nov. 81 on that part of I-81.
Dates and times for the detours are tentative.
