The Virginia Department of Transportation is giving holiday travelers a little break from blasting on Interstate 81.
VDOT contractors have been working to add a truck-climbing lane in Montgomery County.
The work causes daily slowdowns and detours between Exit 132-- that's Dixie Caverns in Roanoke County -- and Exit 118 in Christiansburg.
Blasting will not take place this Friday, December 23 and on Monday, January 2.
What about the blasting on RT 221?
