Montgomery County, Va.—
The Virginia State Police are investigation car wreck in Mongomery County.
It happened Monday afternoon on Interstate 81 southbound at the 115.5 mile marker.
Police say a female from Churchill, Tennessee, was traveling in the right lane when she attempted to switch lanes and almost struck another vehicle that was traveling in the left lane.
The driver overcorrected and ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned in the median.
A 72-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The driver who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash was transported to New River Valley medical center for injuries.
