Hokies receive invitation to NIT; VT misses NCAA  Men's Basketball Tournament

Virginia Tech will in the National Invitation Basketball Tournament.  The Hokies are a #1 seed in the NIT and will play Bethune-Cookman in the first round.

The Virginia Tech basketball team did not receive an invite to the NCAA Tournament on Sunday.

The Hokies (21-11) made it to the semifinals of the ACC Tournament before falling to Duke on Saturday.

Virginia Tech knocked off then top-ranked Duke last month in Blacksburg.

Five other teams from Virginia are in the tournament.

They are George Mason (at large from CAA), Hampton (MEAC Champion), Old Dominion (CAA Champion), Virginia Commonwealth (at large from CAA) and Richmond (Atlantic 10 Champion).

Four teams from the ACC received invitations.

They are Clemson (at large), University of North Carolina (at large, regular season ACC champion), Duke (ACC Tournament winner) and Florida State (at large).
